Women Who Sustain the Republic

From Boğaziçi to Warwick University: ÇEV Scholar Hasan Alperen Tosun Makes Us Proud
Aykut Üçtepe, a fourth-year Aeronautical Engineering student at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and a scholarship recipient of the Contemporary Education Foundation (ÇEV), together with the ITU student team he has captained for the past two years, won first place in the international model satellite competition sponsored by NASA, held in Houston in June 2019.
Leaving 93 Teams Behind Worldwide
Our team achieved this remarkable success by surpassing 93 teams from around the world. Last year, this same team earned third place in the same competition. With this extraordinary achievement, ITU and Turkey have been represented at the highest level in this prestigious competition organized by the International Astronautical Federation.
Hard Work and Knowledge Behind the Success
Under the leadership of Aykut Üçtepe, young engineers specializing in artificial intelligence, software engineering, and space technologies conducted pioneering work at every stage—from satellite design through development, testing, and operations. This multidisciplinary team impressed the judges not only with its technical excellence but also with the innovation and creativity it brought to the project.
We Congratulate Aykut Üçtepe
The Contemporary Education Foundation sincerely congratulates Aykut Üçtepe and his team on this outstanding achievement. We wish them continued success on their academic and professional journeys. Our university students continue to make us proud each and every day.
